Ye Olde Bernoulli vs Newton debate

Too bad, Holtzbrinck Publishing Group used to be ok, like Die Zeit had a mild left institutional bias, but still ok, e.g. like the Economist. O tempora, o mores

    Painting a yoke?

Granted my input might be worth what you are paying me for it here, but perhaps some kind of traction tape carefully wrapped around them?

    Boeing 787 lands in Antarctica

Saw these recently when I was in NZ on my way to Antarctica. Seems like a very odd choice as Norway does have C-130s fitted for ice runways in their own Air Force inventory.

Ye Olde Bernoulli vs Newton debate

Or is this simply the decline of all print media and perhaps the fact that your perception of science may have changed with a few years of post secondary education? At least they managed not to make the article political.

    Bombardier Challenger 600 - Naples FL - 9 Feb 24

So in an odd twist I was in town and there was a group of Challenger pilots talking at the local Juicery about this crash who were convinced it was pilot error and bad placement of engine controls causing both engines to flame out by mistake. (I of course suggested they comment here, so...

    Delta Boeing 757 - Atlanta - 20 Jan 24

So I looked it up, N672DL is 32 year old jet which was delivered by Boeing when George H.W. Bush was president. This seems more like an issue with Delta using aged aircraft to save money and engaging in substandard maintenance. I would actually posit a different argument that the Boeing 757...

    Delta Boeing 757 - Atlanta - 20 Jan 24

Oldest 757s in Service Not sure this is an indictment of the 757. Delta's 757 fleet has an average age of like 30 years.

Alaska Airlines Blowout Reveals Cockpit Door Vulnerability on Boeing Jet

Sorry, fixed that, but likely too little too late. Sorry was away and did not see this.

    Bombardier Challenger 600 - Naples FL - 9 Feb 24

I know one person this happened to in Florida and it related to substandard fuel they had taken on in the Caribbean. Granted I have no idea what could cause that here.

“The risk of dying doing what we love” by Ciepek

So this is interesting and actually brings to mind the conversation we recently had regarding the varying safety of different commercial operators. You had suggested that US based carriers were objectively superior in safety, which I vehemently disagree with. That question aside though, we could...

Unmanned commercial craft to the moon?

Is it possible that this is more of a PR stunt? The problem is that a private company seems to have little economic incentive to got to the moon. Granted there are clearly some mining opportunities, but that cost of that extraction would seem to far outweigh the cost at this time?

Alaska Airlines Blowout Reveals Cockpit Door Vulnerability on Boeing Jet

Alaska Airlines Blowout Reveals Cockpit Door Vulnerability on Boeing Jet Saw this on WSJ this morning. I was actually aware of this, but I find it interesting that some people were not. What I find interesting is that people, namely the public, are still concerned over this facet of aviation...

Air France / Airbus finally on trial

Given the relative size of the French Air Force and the relatively smaller size of the French commercial airline fleet I would not be surprised if they have an higher ratio of military trained pilots than US airlines do.

Ex-UK Military Pilots Paid to Help PRC Military

In World War II one of the more effective tactics to get information from American POWs was after initial questioning, a fluent English speaking Wehrmacht officer to go in and talk to the POW. The Wehrmacht officer would look through the file and essentially claim they already knew everything...

    Bonanza A36 - Harlan KY - 3 Nov 22

Not really, I would actually think it is fairly common. I am actually more interested that you are not making the argument that it is not inherently dangerous.
