Have you seen this video on the accident? I imagine that the pilots were so overloaded and confused that they couldn't make sense of the situation until it was too late. By the time they passed through 10,000 feet they were falling so fast it wasn't recoverable.

If everything is accurate in the video above then there is evidence that it was flying for about 7 or so hours, which is the amount of fuel they had when they left.
